A passion for travel

“Never forget where you came from” was the last thing my grandmother told me before I boarded my flight to Santiago.

I’m Constance and I am a native of small town America, more specifically rural North Carolina. I never left the United States until I was 18 and to be honest I never saw the need to - everything I needed was right around me. All that changed when I went to undergrad and I realized there was so much more to the world. I studied abroad in Estonia and traveled to Russia, Sweden, Italy, and Spain. In my last semester of undergrad I met my then active duty husband and we proceeded to move five times in six years during which I obtained my masters in linguistics from the University of Hawai’i at Manoa (Go Bows!). By the time I was 30 I had lived in more than 10 different places and four different countries but Chile is the first foreign country that my husband and I have moved to together.

This time - this country - is different.

Everywhere that I have lived I have set up bank accounts, set up wifi, ordered food online, and used public transportation and each place was a totally new experience. This time I want to document it and create a space - a resource - for those that come after me. Whether you are thinking about moving to another country, visiting another country, or just in need of some good ol’ escapism let Magnolia on the Move be your resting place.

Welcome.
