Nah-Ma-Stay At Home Workouts

Now that our homes have become our movie theatres, mall food courts, overly frequented Starbucks stop, and library, it only makes sense that it would also become our gym. Before Covid I did have a Planet Fitness membership that I used only on lift days and for the treadmill when it was raining in NC. Now that we are in Chile I have gravitated more to yoga as well as Youtube dance classes. I suppose the later is the result of my short lived career as a Zumba instructor in Saratoga Springs, New York. After much trial and error in the Youtube and website workout space I have narrowed down my list to 4 amazing Youtube channels that I recommend to anyone looking to get their sweat on

YogiApproved.com

YogiApproved is a channel that I stumbled apon while looking to change my morning routine for something that was going to get my heart rate up and lasted less than 30 minutes. This channel is taught by a myriad of instructors that regularly change so you never really get the same class twice. They offer everything from health focused product reviews, to cooking, to a 7-Day YogaStrong Program. Sometimes the instructors do a bit too much commentary but that can be really grounding for days that your head is on your to-do list.

Yoga with Adriene

Anyone who has ever searched for a video containing the word ‘yoga’ on Youtube has probably been given a Yoga with Adriene option. As one of the most subscribed to channels doing one of her classes leaves no mystery as to why her and her precious pup Benji are loved by millions. Adriene peppers her beginner level classes with her Texas-isms that make her seem more like someone you are in class with than the actual instructor. As an only child who was evidently really into theatre growing up expect a class that has singing, various accents, and plenty Benji video bombs…oh and yoga too.

Five Parks Yoga w/ Erin Sampson

Five Parks is a channel I found when looking to take my practice up a notch. Most of Erin’s videos are filmed in various Latin American yoga retreats as well as her home state of Colorado. The scenery is always beautiful. An added bonus of the Latin American videos are the birds - a personal favorite of mine. Erin’s no nonsense approach to yoga are what I crave on those days that I really want to dive into my time on the mat 100%. Her videos are expertly curated so you can really hit the area that you want to work on the most whether that is shoulders, breath, hips, etc. While there are some shorter routines most videos run around the 45 minute mark so adjust your iPhone calendar accordingly.

Madfit

Ready to dance?? This channel is just like those expensive group classes that I used to go to in a gym. Maddie is the instructor on this channel and based in Canada. Much like a Zumba class the dance videos are watch and repeat routines that allow you to turn the jams to 11. There are videos that are all Christmas music - I highly recommend the 15 minute Christmas Dance Party Workout even if it did almost kill me - as well as videos devoted to learning the popular TikTok dances. You will no doubt be short of breath but smiling at the end of these short videos. Maddie also offers videos that focus on particular areas (butt, thighs, arms, etc.) that are all apartment friendly and time short so that you can knock them out and then knock out your to-do list.

Do you have a favorite channel you would recommend? I would love to add more to my rotation. Connect with me on Instagram at @magnoliaonthemove. Enjoy your workout!
